Marine-i

Making waves in Marine Technology

We have worked with Cornwall Development Company (CDC) for a number of years, and following some well received work for the BIG2 (Business Investment for Growth 2) Programme, were awarded the marketing services and website design and development contract for Marine-i. This is an EU funded programme designed to help the marine technology sector in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly grow through research, development and innovation. The programme helps companies, that may or may not be already working in the marine sector, to develop ideas and products that have the potential to make waves.

Following in the same vein as the approach to BIG2, the creative vision for the project was to make a public sector funding website that inspired people with ideas and products as well as sitting comfortably in the same space as other technology and innovation inspired business websites. Underlying this was a corporate business-like design approach that makes the Marine-i website work perfectly for its potential audiences.

From a brand perspective, we were asked to tweak the logo, create brand guidelines and we created a brand language that worked as well online as it did offline. For this we started to create the graphic elements in an interactive space, and then worked on how this could translate to static applications. The solution is a dynamic, interactive graphic language that represents the concept of the power of the oceans vs the power of innovation. This combination of ideas helps to create a unique brand style that is living, breathing and playful.
